DIRECTORATE OF EDUCATION, ARTS AND CULTURE

The Directorate of Education,Arts and Culture is a delegated function performed by the Hardap Regional Council on behalf of the Ministry of Education, Arts and Culture (MoEAC) in terms of the Decentralisation Enabling Act, 2000 (Act no 33 of 2000). The mandate of the Directorate as contained in the Ministry Strategic Plan (2018-2022) and Education Act 2001, Act 16 of 2001 is to "educate and train for sustainable national development and promote Arts and Culture."

REGIONAL STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES OF THE DIRECTORATE

1. To promote Science, Technology, Entrepreneurship and Mathematics by organizing i.e. Maths Olympiads, Science fairs, Entrepreneurship Day at school and Circuit level;

2. Stimulate Cultural Tourism and expose learners to other traditions and artifacts through exchange programs and performance at Regional and National Level;

3. Focus on academic performance by organizing rigorous programs e.g common examination, teachers enrichment programs, result analysis and discussion;

4. Enforce strong leadership and management of educational institutions by training school managers on interpretation and compliance to Acts, Staff Rules and other regulatory framework; and 

5.Craft prompt circumstance-based responsive Regional directives.
